A Note from the Pastor…
Beginning next Sunday, (and for the whole month of October), we will begin a new series entitled “Faith of Our Fathers.” This series will begin to look at the basic, or “orthodox,” teaching of the church. The Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church defines orthodoxy as “right belief, as contrasted with heresy” (Cross, F. and Livingstone, E., ed., Oxford University Press, 2005, p. 1,206). Orthodox beliefs are established, biblical beliefs that all Christians should agree on. While there is a wide range of legitimate views on many topics, rejection of orthodox beliefs places someone outside the bounds of Christianity.
In addition, for the month of October, we will be having a Sunday evening service, (or small group if you will), that will further discuss traditional Church of God teachings within these orthodox beliefs. We will also be singing some of our “Heritage Hymns” each Sunday night, (and maybe even a special song or two), and discover how these old hymns help share the teachings of the Word of God. Clearly, we will not be able to cover everything in a month – yet it is important to begin building a shared foundation of essential doctrines of the Church.
I look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday morning as we begin this series, but I want to invite each one to come back on Sunday evenings at 6pm for an hour of singing, bible study, and fellowship. May God bless you in all you do for Him!
Pastor Chris
