A Note from the Pastor…
All week, I have thought about this past week’s message about missions. I know sometimes it seems repetitive. As we focus on missions, sometimes I show the same video, (or at least the same type of video), sometimes I share basically the same message – almost every month. This week is Veterans Day, (Tuesday, November, 11th). I will most likely share a message much like last year’s. Next week, we will be celebrating Communion – I promise, if you have been in this congregation any length of time – you have heard much of what I will share. In case you didn’t know – Thanksgiving is right around the corner – and I bet you can guess what we will be talking about!
As I write this, (on a Friday morning), we also only have 48 days until Christmas! (My wife is sooo excited – our Christmas lights are already on the parsonage!). I guarantee you will hear, again – about the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! I guarantee you will hear, again – the familiar passages of Christmas in Matthew and/or Luke. I guarantee you will hear, again – about our ladies Christian Womens Connection group as we light candles and partake in the Advent Celebration. It is a truth we need to be reminded of again and again!
Perhaps, the last two verses of the well-known hymn, “I Love to Tell the Story,” best describes our joy in hearing God’s familiar Word one more time…
v. 3 – I love to tell the story, v. 4 – I love to tell the story,
‘Tis pleasant to repeat For those who know it best
What seems, each time I tell it, Seem hungering and thirsting
More wonderfully sweet; To hear it like the rest.
I love to tell the story, And when in scenes of glory,
For some have never heard, I sing the new, new song,
The message of Salvation ‘till be the old, old story
From God’s own Holy Word That I have loved so long.
Pastor Chris
