Meriam’s Hope is headquartered in Oberlin Kansas on a 20-acre property that contains guest housing that sleeps 12, as well as providing dorm style housing for families. It has a centralized cafeteria, outdoor activities, an assortment of animals, and a garden! All of these accommodations help the families succeed during their stay in the program.
The organization began as a vision in the hearts of Luke and Corina Kliewer, who saw the need to address the challenges within the foster care system. After working in foster care and witnessing the trauma sometimes experienced by both children and parents, they were determined to create a solution. Miriam’s Hope provides housing, support programs, and assistance to help mothers create stable and healthy lives for their children.
The name symbolizes the hope that the organization offers to families in need of restoration and a fresh start. It aims to provide a safe haven and the resources necessary for mothers to overcome challenges like addiction, poverty, and lack of support, thus preventing children from entering the foster care system.
Although much has changed in the years Meriam’s Hope has been located in Oberlin, the mission to “confront the foster care epidemic in a Christian way” has not changed! From creating “new foundations” to “building a better tomorrow” – Meriam’s Hope continues to give “hope” to families thru a proven, on-site, year-long program that helps women and mothers become stable by guiding them to a path of restoration.
